It has been a tough year for venerable marketing firms in Denver. First, advertising agency McClain Finlon shut its doors in August, and now Schenkein principal Christin Crampton Day announced that the long-time PR agency will shut its doors at the end of this month. Crampton Day cited the flagging economy for the move, which will affect 10 employees and follows former principal Leanna Clark’s departure last month. The Denver Business Journal has the early details.
I’ve only been there a short time, but the people (and soul) of Schenkein will live on; as with McClain, this is just another casualty of the times.
Fresh fruit, green lights and good fortune.
Earlier today, about 60 local PR professionals gathered for the monthly PRSA Colorado Chapter lunch titled, “Recession-Proof Your Career.” The timing of this program was impeccable considering the Schenkein news. As president of PRSA Colorado, I must say that I’m proud of the way our tight-knit PR community has shown support toward the Schenkein staff during this difficult time. Shenkein has contributed a lot to our profession and to this community. They will be missed for a long time. I admire the way Christin Crampton Day has handled this. She is a very talented and graceful professional.
