About Jeremy Story

I am an experienced communications professional who has spent more than 20 years developing and executing high-profile communications campaigns for organizations ranging from the Fortune-100 to private start-ups, and my work has been recognized with a number of awards including the public relations industry’s highest honor, the PRSA Silver Anvil.

My career has been split almost equally between agency and corporate positions. On the agency side, I am a Vice President at GroundFloor Media , where I co-lead the firm’s Crisis Communications & Reputation Management practice and work with healthcare, energy, technology and transportation clients. I also served as a Vice President with the global PR firm Weber Shandwick, where I led a 14-person agency team for Fortune-80 healthcare benefits provider CIGNA. While at Weber Shandwick, I also managed specific projects for clients such as ExxonMobil, American Airlines, Merck, Royal Caribbean, Baylor University and Sprint.

I also worked with clients such as Sherman & Howard, HOK Architecture, Grant Thornton and North Highland Consulting while I was President of dovetail solutions, and I established the Corporate Practice and helped win clients such as Chevron Mining and EnCana as a Vice President at LeGrand Hart. I also spent five years as Managing Partner at Story + Welch Public Relations, a boutique firm I co-founded whose clients included H&R Block, Newmont Mining, tw telecom, Trust Company of America and Cimarex Energy.

On the corporate side, I was Director of Corporate Communications at StorageTek, where I led the company’s external communications strategy during its $4.1 billion acquisition by Sun Microsystems and managed an 11-member team responsible for corporate communications, media, industry analysts, community affairs and government relations.

I also spent five years at US West, ultimately as Director of Public Relations, where I was responsible for the communications/industry analyst activities of the company’s data-networking and Internet businesses. And I spent several years in Silicon Valley as Director of Corporate Communications at Ishoni Networks, a private semiconductor-and-software firm that was acquired by Philips Electronics.

I have served on the boards of directors of PRSA Colorado and AfricAid, a nonprofit supporting the education of girls. Additionally, I have served on the advisory council of Colorado Succeeds, a non-partisan coalition of business leaders improving the state’s education system.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism from Baylor University and conducted my graduate studies in Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I live in Genesee with my wife and daughter.
