The news about the Rocky Mountain News is that there is no news. Mark Harden at the Denver Business Journal reports that Scripps “is maintaining its silence on its plans for the money-losing Denver daily — or if there’s an offer on the table for the newspaper.”
Isn’t this what real reporters are supposed to do: In the face of official “silence,” find out what’s really going on? Milstead’s Jan. 28 piece is great, but it doesn’t address whether any buyout offers were floated to Scripps by the deadline, let alone who might have floated them.
