For those of you who are Googling the recently departed Denver movie critic Reggie McDaniel and coming across this post, let me just say first that is was written two years ago. I am not, in fact, “dancing on his grave.” So quit emailing me. And, second, McDaniel was a critic, and he understood that criticism is part of being a public performer/personality.

Reggie was a great guy. He used to randomly show up at my office at City Hall and we’d just sit around and talk about stuff. I wish I had kept up with him. He was a good man with a big heart. People loved his show because he wasn’t trying to be anybody but who he was.
Judging by the number of emails I have received, there is no question he was beloved personally and professionally.
