Gwin Johnston, the founder of JohnstonWells Public Relations, passed away Thursday. A University of Wyoming alumna, she founded her agency in Denver in 1971 and helped grow it be one of the largest and most respected in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Gwin was such a pioneer…that sounds trite to say but in so many ways she shaped and defined PR in Denver and the Rocky Mountain region. I learned a lot from her, especially crisis communications and the importance of “always being ready.”
Before I made the move to Denver in 2006 I met with Gwin. She and others like her are why I came here. In addition to lending her expertise on the PR environment in Denver she even gave me advice on where I might want to live.You don’t forget people who show outstanding kindness like she did.
