Turner PR has added Sandos Hotels & Resorts to its portfolio of hotel clients. Turner will provide strategic bilingual media relations for two of the growing hotel company’s Mexico properties including the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa and Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa. Turner also announced that it has hired Ashley Cothran as an account executive. Cothran previously was with Aiello Public Relations and Marketing.

Bawmann Group Announces Six New Clients

Denver’s economy must be improving because the wins keep coming. This week, it’s The Bawmann Group announcing it has added six new clients: Everest University Online; Tri-County Health Department’s Communities Putting Prevention to Work Initiative; C. Colorado Tourism Office Selects NY Firm for PR Work

Bad news if you were chasing the Colorado Tourism Office’s public relations/social media account. It went to New York-based MMG Mardiks, which has had the account since 2006.

“Over the past four years, we have developed an innovative, buzz- and business-building PR program in partnership with the Colorado Tourism Office,” said Charles Mardiks, managing director, MMG Mardiks. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to build on this momentum and to continue to showcase this great state” that I fly over regularly on the Virgin Atlantic JFK-LAX redeye.

Brand Iron Adds Three New Clients

Wells Communications Announces New Client

NewMark Merrill Mountain States has hired Wells Communications to assist with public relations related to its 1,500,000 square feet of shopping center real estate in Colorado. NewMark Merrill Mountain States purchases, redevelops, repositions and manages shopping centers throughout the Rocky Mountain region, with a focus on Colorado. Current projects include Arvada Marketplace East, Broomfield Plaza, Fort Collins Marketplace, Waneka Marketplace (Lafayette), and Twin Peaks Mall and Harvest Junction (Longmont).

Stasko Inks Three New Clients

Denver design firm Urban Dwellers has selected The Stasko Agency as its agency of record. Additionally, Stasko has been retained to provide publicity services for Mountain States Employers Council and the Alexander Dawson Foundation. Mountain States is the region’s largest employer services organization, with 3,000 member employers, and the Alexander Dawson Foundation is a Las Vegas-based non-profit, which provides educational enrichment opportunities for high-achieving, public school students.

Evatran Selects JohnstonWells for Product Launch

JohnstonWells has been hired by Evatran to manage media relations as the company unveils its Plugless Power charging system in 2011. Plugless Power is the world’s first charging system that allows electric vehicles to refuel without a cord and plug or any driver interaction. The technology is based on inductive power transfer that has been used in electrical transformers for more than a century.

OnTheSnow Selects Linhart

Linhart Public Relations has been selected to lead a public relations campaign for OnTheSnow, the most visited snow sports website in the world. CDPHE Selects Amelie Company for ‘Smart Meal’ Campaign

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has selected Amélie Company to conduct marketing services for its Smart Meal program that promotes healthier eating in restaurants throughout Colorado. Amélie was awarded a two-year contract with CDPHE for market research, public relations and implementation of a campaign to increase consumer awareness of the Smart Meal program.

Turner PR Adds Four Seasons Vail, Two Other Clients

Turner Public Relations, a full service, national public relations and social media firm, has added Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail, Capella Telluride and Moonlight Basin Ski Resort to its portfolio of clients.

The firm also added Carrina Junge as assistant account executive, where she will support media relations initiatives for Turner PR’s luxury travel and real estate clients. Most recently, Junge was with VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau, where she spent the last four years working closely with the City of Denver and its more than 1,000 business members to promote the city.

Trippe & Company announced that it has reorganized its agency around three practice areas:

  • Cultivate, which focuses on startup companies – particularly in the technology and green energy markets
  • Escalate, which focuses on traditional business functions such as communications, marketing and sales, as well as a new focus on investor relations, and
  • Radiate, which focuses on personal brands

Trippe also announced it has hired Robert Ferri and Anne Haggar, and landed Palisade-based Strong Bear as a client.

Linhart Named AOR for Old Chicago

Linhart PR has added Old Chicago to its stable of restaurant clients (which include Chipotle, Red Robin and Panera, among others). Linhart has been named agency of record for Old Chicago, and has been tasked with increasing brand awareness and helping drive traffic and sales through consumer media relations programs across the country. Additionally, Linhart will develop and execute a trade media relations program. Old Chicago is part of Louisville, Colo.-based Rock Bottom Restaurants, and has more than 100 locations across the country.

Denver CyberKnife Selects Mulligan & Co.

Denver-based Mulligan & Co. has added Denver CyberKnife to its roster of clients. The firm will implement a public relations campaign surrounding the state’s lack of Medicare coverage for CyberKnife treatment for prostate cancer patients.

Also, the Stroke of Hope Foundation has appointed Mulligan & Co. President Diane Mulligan to its national executive board of directors. Stroke of Hope provides medical and emotional support to stroke survivors and their families.

Cohn Adds Senior PR Strategist, Wins New Client

Cohn Marketing has formally announced the addition of Brandy Radey as a senior PR strategist. Radey, who has more than a decade of experience in strategic planning, media relations, public affairs and community outreach, formerly was with PopSpring Communications and Schenkein.

Cohn also announced that it has been retained by New York-based L.M. Zuckerman & Company for brand development, brand expression and website redesign services. L.M. Zuckerman & Company is a wholesale coffee dealer, serving clients worldwide with a broad range of coffee types and qualities from sources that include Columbia, Brazil, India and Mexico.

Fabric Media Announces Two New Clients

Denver’s Fabric Media has landed two new clients:

  • Bebo – Criterion Capital Partners hired Fabric Media to handle the media surrounding its acquisition of Bebo from AOL and will be retained as media counsel for the world’s fourth largest social network.
  • ShortsHD – The world’s largest distributor of short films and global TV network operator  has retained Fabric to handle its U.S. corporate PR in conjunction with the launch their HD TV Network in the states (ShortsHD) and celebrity driven digital releases.

Dovetail Adds Univ. of Colorado Hospital as Client

Dovetail Solutions has added University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) to its client roster. Dovetail will “develop strategic community investment within UCH, as well as media relations and public relations activities on behalf the academic hospital.” UCH, located on the Anschutz Medical Campus, is the region’s only academic hospital and consistently ranks among the top hospitals in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

Weise Adds New Client

Weise Communications added Birmingham, Ala.-based Messerschmidt Safety Consulting (MSC) to its client roster. MSC provides traffic safety and forensic analysis, emergency response, and Motor Carrier Safety and Compliance consulting throughout the Southeastern U.S., as well as consulting and training services nationwide. Weise will manage public relations, media relations, marketing, branding and social media initiatives for the company.

104 West Adds Two Clients

104 West Partners announced that is has added Mocapay and Intermap’s AccuTerra to its client roster. Boulder-based Mocapay offers a mobile wallet service that lets customers make payments with their gift and loyalty cards using their cell phone, and Englewood-based AccuTerra offers iPhone-based information ranging from mapping content to videos, educational content to 3D views of outdoor off-road recreation areas.

  • The Bawmann Group was hired by MyTeleHealth Solutions and the national Flu Information & Care System to launch www.amafluhelp.org. The Web site is the nation’s first comprehensive online flu assessment program to coordinate care among patients and their families.
  • Linhart PR has been retained by mix1 Beverage Company. Boulder-based mix1 is an emerging leader in the functional beverage and performance nutrition category.

Aiello Rep’ing Terror Suspect Lawyer

Arthur Folsom, the lawyer representing Colorado terrorist suspect Najibullah Zazi, hasn’t exactly been knocking the ball out of the park lately (who lets their client voluntarily talk to the FBI only to have them arrested for lying to the FBI a couple of days later?). But brighter days assuredly are on the horizon. Folsom has retained Wendy Aiello of Aiello Public Relations to represent him.

Unfortunately, things so far are not going well for Aiello, who is married to CBS4 GM Walt DeHaven. Since adding Folsom as a client four days ago, Bruce Goldberg at the Denver Business Journal reports she has received a number of threatening and abusive phone calls and emails.
