The Denver Press Club inducted its 2010 Hall of Fame class: Mike McPhee, who recently retired from The Denver Post; Cynthia Hessin of Rocky Mountain PBS; Neil Westergaard, editor of the Denver Business Journal; and, posthumously, cable pioneer Bill Daniels; Greg Pearson, former journalism professor at Metropolitan State College of Denver; and William Byers, founder of the Rocky Mountain News.

So great to know that Cynthia Hessin was honored by The Denver Press Club. It was definintely due! Early in my career she took time to meet with me and share her knowledge. I will always remember her taking time out of her busy schedule to share her thoughts with me as a lowly little recent graduate. I believe people like her are pillars in the industry — for sure!

Greg Pearson was the most inspirational educator I have ever known. It was indeed a privilege to study under him. He saved me from getting into serious trouble with a story on drug trafficking I had been working on, but seemed both pleased and amused that I had tackled something of that magnitude. He sent me to Denver PD vice squad Capt. Jerry Kennedy to review what I had turned up. When I showed him photos I had taken he easily identified more than a dozen men, some with serious arrest records. Being a student under Greg was an experience I will never forget.
