Sure, but I know the risk I’m taking. Off-the-record should only be used in solid relationships between PR pros and a reporter. I only use off-the-record when I’m prohibited by policy from revealing something that the reporter needs to know in order not to get the story completely wrong. I’d never use it to reveal something prohibited by law. No relationship is worth going to jail.
