The ones who were good reporters and editors can. The others who were lazy, unskilled at good journalism, unimaginative, arrogant…not so much. A truly skilled communicator can communicate a story from either side; you’d be surprised how many really good journalists laugh at incompetent communicators (both private and public sector) because they know they could do a better job of messaging about their clients…
