Curiously, I left Colorado in 2000 for a job in Des Moines after losing a Denver job in 1999. There was nothing in Colorado for me at the time. This summer I was downsized from my Des Moines financial services job after eight years, along with many other colleagues. Although we’re all well qualified (I have a master’s degree in journalism, am accredited in public relations and hold two securities licenses), no one is finding work in Des Moines or anywhere else at this point. It’s clearly an employer’s market.
